About the event
Having visitors should be enjoyable for everyone — but for some dogs, the arrival of guests can be the most exciting part of their day!
This practical two-hour workshop with Nancy Trus will look at the challenges that can arise when people come to your home, from the initial knock or doorbell through to having guests settle in.
We’ll explore ways to help dogs manage excitement and develop the skills they need to make better choices around visitors. The workshop will include ideas for managing arrivals, greetings, impulse control and settling, while considering the individual dog and the situations they find most challenging.
Rather than simply expecting your dog to “sit and stay,” we’ll look at practical ways to help them understand what is expected of them and give them the skills to cope with the excitement of people arriving, moving around and spending time in their home.
