About the event
Scent Detection Workshop: Working Through Distractors
Three-Hour Intensive | Sports Dogs Only (6 Working Spots)
This three-hour scent detection workshop is designed for sport dogs and handlers who want to build stronger focus and reliability when distractions are added to the search environment.
Distractors are part of real-world and competition scent work — food, novel objects, environmental changes, and competing odours can all pull a dog off task. In this workshop, teams will work through carefully planned set-ups that challenge the dog’s ability to stay on odour, make confident choices, and recover from mistakes without handler pressure.
Working teams will:
Learn how and why distractors affect scenting behaviour
